Breil Sur Roya

Day 1: ARRIVAL; Join Breil-Sur-Roya at any time
Join the 2 star hotel “Le Roya” in Breil sur Roya.
Breil-sur-Roya, is located at the bottom end of the Roya high valley and has the feeling of a real mountain town of the 17th or 18th century. The town forms a compact crescent around a narrow rocky spur, nestled in the deep Roya valley. The mountain hillsides around the town are half covered by terraced olive groves.

 

Olive Groves

Day 2: SELF GUIDED WALK; In the middle of the olive groves
Enjoy a loop walk from Breil and discover the local olive trees and the Mediterranean vegetation.
550 m ascent and 5 hours 30 minutes walk.
On option why not try rafting! The roya valley is famous all over Europe for white water sports.

 

Sospel

Day 3: SELF GUIDED WALK; Breil-Sur-Roya to Sospel
Start the walk on a very nice path overlooking the Roya valley.
Then stop for lunch at the very pretty village of Piene Haute.
This itinerary will bring you from France to the Italian border before going down to France through the “Beve” valley and a nice botanic path ideal to observe the local Flora. Join the hotel “Villa Amiel” located right in the centre of Sospel.
700 m ascent 5 hours 30 minutes walk.

Walk in the Alpes Maritimes

Day 4: SELF GUIDED WALK; walk around Sospel
Sospel feels like a mountain town, straddling a rushing river and with its tall buildings built close together, although the valley is wide and flat here. Some of the mountain feeling could also come from the town's Italian “Piedmontais” heritage.
During today's loop walk you will explore the old shepherd village of Cuore.
600 m ascent 5 hours walk.
On option visit of fort Saint Roch, remains of the Maginot line built between the two world wars.

Day 5: SELF GUIDED WALK; Sospel - Sainte Agnès
In the morning walk up to the “Col de Castillon” from where you will gradually discover the view over the Mediterranean coast.
Today you will discover a gem of the French Riviera with the village of Sainte Agnes, perched on the flank of a mountain, high above the Mediterranean.
Join the hotel “Le Saint Yves” in Sainte Agnes.
450 m ascent 5 hours 30 minutes walk.

Discover the local Flora

Day 6: SELF GUIDED WALK; Walk down to Menton
You will enjoy a scenic walk as you will enter the famous “Garavan” Bay.
3,5 hours walk.
Join the 2 star hotel “Moderne” in the centre of Menton.
Take some time in the evening to discover Menton and it's old town.
On option visit the art museum Carnolès, modern and ancient art: Free
On option visit of the “Serre de la Madone” gardens.

Exotic Garden Monaco

Day 7: FAREWELL!
Leave Menton at any time, or enjoy a last day walking.
Enjoy a superb coastal flat walk to Monaco through “Cap Martin” and chose to return to Menton by train or by foot (3 hours one way).
