Day 1: ARRIVAL- GUIDED WALK; Join Thorame in the morning
This trip is run in partnership with the “Office National des Forêts”, known as ONF. The ONF is in charge with the management of national forest and also involved in supporting walking trips since 1998. France Outdoors is Sole Agent for this trip. Transport luggages service from stages to stages.
All the chalets-accommodations are located in the mountain and are self sufficient in electricity and water.
In the afternoon, walk up to the restored village of Peyresq.
500 metres ascent and 3 hours walk.

Day 2: GUIDED WALK; Peyresq – Congerman
Today you will discover the local trees and shrubs while walking to the “Courradour” mountain (2157 metres).
May be you will meet a local shepard and learn the secrets of his day to day job! The chalet Congerman was built at the end of the XIXth century and used by the ONF to support the tree planting initiatives in the area.
550 metres ascent and 6 hours walk.

Day 3: GUIDED WALK; Congerman - Fruchière
You will walk today up to 2472 metres (“Detroit” pass), and you will be surprised by the moon-type landscapes this walk has to offer.
Why not getting a refreshing swim at the end of the walk in the natural pools of river “Lance”?
Then enjoy a deserved break by the terrace of Chalet Fruchière.
630 metres ascent 6 hours walk.

Day 4: GUIDED WALK; Fruchière - Couesto
Back to the forest we will walk by two huts before getting to the “Haut Verdon” larch tree forest famous for its trees of more than 200 years old.
Then we will climb up to the “Champ” pass before getting to the chalet Couesto from where the view is just breathtaking.
650 metres ascent 6 hours walk.

Day 5: GUIDED WALK; Couesto - Garrets
We will enter the Mercantour National Park and it will be the day to discover local fauna such as ibex, chamoix (Alpine mountain goats) and “marmottes”. Admire a superb glacier lake, the “Lac des Lausson” at 2327 meters high.
You will have the privilege to spend the night right in the middle of the National Park in a chalet only accessible by foot.
500 metres ascent 6 hours walk.

Day 6: GUIDED WALK; Back to Thorame and Farewell!
Today you will finish with the highest point of your trip through the “Col de la petite Cayolle”, pass at 2639 metres. Then the descent to the Allos Lake will offer some of the finest views in the Alps. The Allos is protected and is the biggest natural lake in Europe.
A bus transfer will be organised to Thorame after a short visit of the medieval town of Colmars-Les-Alpes, to be on time for the train to Nice.
