Hotel "Le Prieuré"

Day 1:  ARRIVAL
Pick up from Nice airport and transfer to Saint Dalmas de Tende.
St Dalmas is located in the Roya valley, where Italian influences are very strong through architecture in villages like Tende and through food specialities.
Staying in the hotel "Le Prieuré", you will be charmed by its welcoming and high quality food.

On the way to Granile

Day 2: GUIDED WALK; around Granile Village
From Saint Dalmas, you will explore the mountain overhanging the village. You will join Granile, an old stone house village. For the most experienced, enjoy the magnificent view from the "Cime de la Nauque".

Bronze age engraving

Day 3: GUIDED WALK; Mercantour National Park, Bronze age engravings
The particularity of the Mercantour National Park, is that during the Bronze age, prehistoric men choose the Mont Bego as a sacred site. They engraved its red stones with symbolic drawings. During today walks, your guide will show you some of them on the way to the "Lac vert" and, for the most experienced, to "La Baisse de Fontanalbas".

Monaco, Exotic Garden

Day 4: FREE DAY; CUNEO market or MONACO visit
Today, you are free to explore a bit further the Roya valley at your own pace. Or, you can choose to go either to Cuneo or Monaco by train. These two towns are great to visit: in the Italian Cuneo, it is market day (Tuesdays) as lively as you can imagine, whereas, in the Principality, you will be charmed by the beauty of the exotic garden!

Tende

Day 5: GUIDED WALK; around Tende village
From Saint Dalmas, walk to the medieval village of Tende. You will be enchanted by the chestnuts forest and then the more open landscape as soon as you will stand on the east side of the Roya valley and, for the most experienced, on the "Col de Boselia".

Gypaetus Barbatus

Day 6: GUIDED WALK; Mercantour National Park
A second day in the park will allow your guides to share with you more informations about protected species in the park. You might even spot some Gypaetus Barbatus or wolves traces while walking to the "Baisse de Valauretta" or for the most experienced to the "Cime du Diable"!

Pont du Coq, Roman bridge

Day 7: GUIDED WALK; La Brigue.
From Saint Dalmas, you will walk to La Brigue village where you can choose to go and visit the Chapel "Notre Dame des Fontaines", named the "Sixtine Chapel of the Roya Valley". For a more challenging option, you can walk up to the "Baisse de Peluna".

Transfert to Nice aiport.
