Hotel "Les Bergers"

Day 1- ARRIVAL at Pra-Loup:
Transfer to Pra-Loup resort overlooking at the Ubaye valley, near Barcelonnette. You will join the 2 star hotel "Les Bergers" which offers superb comfort with free access to swimming pool and sauna.
Meet with Vincent your France Outdoors Mountain Leader in the evening.

Enjoy the walk!

Day 2 - LET'S DISCOVER THE REGION.
This first walk will give you the opportunity to enjoy the magnificent views over two valleys: Ubaye and Bachelard that overviews the Mercantour National Park.
While walking towards the summits, "Le Queyron" or the "Chapeau de Gendarme", you are likely to spot some of the local wildlife: chamois or eagles living in those mountains.
On option, you can try tandem paragliding flight. This option is also available every other days.

"La Grande Séolane" summit

Day 3 - "LA GRANDE SEOLANE"
From Pra-Loup, you can climb the highest pick of the Ubaye valley: "La grande Séolane" where you might spot some edelweiss flowers. Or you might prefer to join the pick of "La Tête de Sestrière" offering a less challenging alternative with beautiful panoramas over the valley.
On option, instead of walking stay in Pra-Loup and go mountain biking: going up with a ski lift, you will ride down and test your balance skills!

Ruburent upper lake.

Day 4 - A FOOT IN FRANCE, A FOOT IN ITALY.
From the "Col de Larche", you will follow one of the most beautiful tracks of the Provence Alps. Following the L'Orenaye valley, you will join a first lake before passing in Italy through Ruburent pass. You will be amazed by the upper Ruburent lake the perfect place to enjoy a swim. Then, going down, you will spot the lower Ruburent lake and follow a wild rocky path that will lead you to Argentera village.
On option, instead of walking, cycle on the tour de France road from Jausiers to Col de La Bonette (24km; 1500m ascent) or from Pra-Loup to Col d'Allos (17km; 1100m ascent) or Col de La Cayolle (26km; 1200m).

Day 5 - FREE DAY, MARKET IN BARCELONNETTE
Spend the morning in Barcelonnette and enjoy local market food and craft. Lunch not included as you will be able to try a café or restaurant of your choice.
Afternoon off.
On option, if you feel more adventurous, why not try a white water sport such as rafting or even more physical, hydrospeed?

Marmottes.

Day 6 - DISCOVER THE REMAINS OF MAGINOT MILITARY LINE
From larche village, you will walk to Mallemort pass or "Batterie de Viraysse", fort built to prevent Italian attacks during the WWII. Magnificent views and probably meeting with the local sentinels: "les marmottes"!
On option: instead of walking, try mountain biking from Pra-Loup.

Enjoy a swim in glaciers' lake.

Day 7 - IN THE HEART OF MERCANTOUR NATIONAL PARK;
Today, from "La Cayolle" pass you will join the emerald lake of "La Petite Cayolle". Protected in the park, you will meet chamois, bouquetins (ibex), marmottes and why not some eagles for those who will climb the Mont Pelat!
On option: same option as day 3.

Day 8 - Farewell!
Spend the morning at your own pace before a transfer to the airport.

Access by plane (if flight schedules remain identical as 2009) :

-From Dublin access to Nice, Marseille, Grenoble and Lyon.
-From London access to Turin, Grenoble and Marseille.
-From Glasgow access to Turin and Marseille.
-From Birminghan access to Grenoble and Marseille.
